ABBE is a specialist awarding body that provides nationally recognised qualifications that reside in the Built Environment industry sector. These cover such disciplines as energy assessment, installation of renewable technologies, Green Deal Advice, surveying, sale and letting of property, town planning, building control, conservation and valuation. ABBE offers the full suite of energy awards linked to the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, implemented by Communities and Local Government: Domestic Energy Assessment, On Construction Energy Assessment, Non Domestic Energy Assessment, Operational Ratings and Air Conditioning Energy Assessment. These are available at ABBE approved assessment centres.
ABBE offers a range of vocational awards to the country's workforce through a network of approved assessment centres. These centres are approved against a set of national criteria, laid down by Ofqual, the regulator of qualifications, tests and examinations in England. ABBE is regulated by Ofqual to ensure quality in assessment. ABBE awards certificates for individual units of competence and for full qualifications. ABBE plays a crucial role in developing qualifications that meet industry requirements and prepare people for, or give individuals the opportunity to progress to, specific work roles.
The ABBE approval process relates specifically to the quality assurance processes which support the delivery of ABBE qualifications. ABBE has no remit in relation to financial or contractual arrangements laid down by assessment centres and cannot be held responsible for any matters that arise in relation to these.
